Škoda navigation maps become outdated faster than you think: new roads, roundabouts and speed limits appear every year, while an old system still shows the old route. We update Lithuania and Europe maps for three Škoda systems: RNS Trinax Columbus (DVD), Blaupunkt RNS Amundsen (SD card) and Nexus DX (CD).

This is part of the general navigation update service. Bring your card or disc and visit any service point during business hours.

  • How much does the update cost? The initial diagnostics cost 10 €. The update price is quoted after diagnostics and agreed before any work begins.
  • Which Škoda models are suitable? Superb, Octavia, Rapid, Roomster, Fabia and Yeti with the systems listed above. The model and year of manufacture matter.
  • Do I need to register in advance? No. Visit any service point Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00; we are closed at weekends.
  • Is a warranty provided? A warranty is provided for the work, and maps come with a 1-year warranty.

How to tell that your Škoda map is outdated

The problem may not be a device fault, but outdated data or an unsuitable card. Here is what the symptoms indicate.

01

The Škoda navigation shows me driving across a field

WhyThe map does not know about a newly built road or roundabout. This may mean the maps are already outdated.

Check it yourselfCompare the map version in the system settings with the latest known version.

What we doWe install the latest Lithuania and Europe maps in your system’s format.

02

Navigation does not detect the SD card

WhyThe card may be damaged, incompatible, or intended for Amundsen+ rather than Amundsen. These systems look identical from the outside, but their cards are not interchangeable.

Check it yourselfPress and hold SETUP for 5–10 sec. and select VERSIONS: three lines indicate Amundsen, six lines indicate Amundsen+.

What we doDuring diagnostics we determine whether the problem lies in the card or the system, and agree on a solution.

03

It reads the DVD but does not load the map

WhyThe disc may be scratched, or the reader in the Trinax system may be worn.

Check it yourselfRemove the disc, check that it is clean and free of scratches, and try again.

What we doDuring diagnostics we assess whether the disc or the reader is at fault, and then agree on a solution.

04

Some countries or cities are missing

WhyThe wrong map set may be installed: for example, a Western Europe disc instead of one covering Lithuania and the Baltic states.

What we doWe install a map set matching your travel destinations and your system.

05

Nexus DX asks for a disc I don’t have

WhyFor this system, the maps are split across several CDs by region, so the corresponding disc is required.

What we doWe discuss which regional maps you need.

06

The screen or system freezes after an update

WhyThe software (SW) may be outdated or the map version may be incorrect.

Check yourselfTurn off the ignition, wait a minute and restart the system.

What we doDuring diagnostics, we assess the software version and the map set.

Myths about updating Škoda maps

  • Myth. Amundsen and Amundsen+ cards are the same. In fact. The systems look the same, but the cards are not interchangeable. Amundsen+ has internal memory, while Amundsen does not.
  • Myth. There is no need to update maps if you know the road. In fact. The road network changes, so newer maps help avoid incorrect routes, especially in unfamiliar places.
  • Myth. If the map is bad, the whole navigation system is broken. In fact. Sometimes the system works fine and only lacks new data in the right format.

Which Škoda systems we update

RNS Trinax Columbus uses DVD discs, Blaupunkt RNS Amundsen uses an SD card, and Nexus DX uses CD discs with regional maps. The country sets differ for each system: Lithuania with Latvia, Estonia and Poland, Western Europe or Scandinavia.

Suitable for Superb, Octavia, Rapid, Roomster, Fabia and Yeti. The year of manufacture matters, because earlier and later versions require different maps.

  • Trinax Columbus: models from 2007
  • Amundsen: Superb, Octavia, Yeti from 2009/03, Roomster and Fabia from 2010/01, Rapid
  • Nexus DX: CDs with European regions

You can check the Amundsen version yourself: hold down SETUP for 5–10 sec. and select VERSIONS.
