Not every „bad” route means an outdated map. Below are the most common complaints and what usually lies behind them.
01from 15 €
The navigation shows outdated streets and doesn’t know about new roads
WhyThe map version lags behind real-world changes: new bypasses, roundabouts, altered traffic arrangements. This is the most common reason people look for how to update their navigation.
Check for yourselfIn the device settings, find the map version and year. If they are old, an update is definitely needed. Write down the model name before bringing it in.
What we doWe install a newer set of Lithuanian and European maps and check that the device reads it correctly and that routes are calculated without errors.

Garmin navigation map update fails
WhyMost often there is not enough memory space, the memory card is faulty, or the device firmware is too old. Sometimes the computer does not recognise the device because of a bad USB cable or port.
Check for yourselfTry a different USB cable and a different computer port. If you use a memory card, check that it is not damaged.
What we doWe check the memory, the connection port and the software, install the maps and check that the device works with them.

The navigation shows the wrong location or „jumps around”
WhyThe cause may be a GPS antenna problem, frozen software, or a poor signal reception spot, for example a heated windscreen. We write more about this in the article why the navigation shows the wrong location.
Check for yourselfTurn off the device, take it outside to an open area and wait a few minutes while it finds satellites. Try a different spot on the windscreen.
What we doWe check the GPS receiver and antenna, reflash the software, and if necessary replace the faulty module.
04from 25 €
The navigation won’t turn on or won’t charge
WhyOften the culprit is a worn charging port, a discharged or swollen battery, or a damaged car charging cable. Sometimes the power circuit on the board fails.
Check for yourselfTry a different charging cable and a different car socket. If the casing gets hot or is swollen, do not connect the device to power again and bring it in for inspection.
What we doWe diagnose the power circuit, replace the port or battery, and repair the board if needed.

Freezes, the logo keeps repeating, the system won’t load
WhyThe software was corrupted after a failed update, the memory is full, or the map files are damaged. This often happens with WinCE devices.
Check for yourselfPress the device’s reset button, if it has one. Do not format the data until you know whether you need it.
What we doWe restore or reflash the software and reinstall iGo or another application and the maps from scratch.

The touchscreen doesn’t work or the glass is broken
WhyAn impact, pressure or prolonged heat on the windscreen can damage the touch glass. A common symptom is that touches register in a different place.
Check for yourselfWipe the screen with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If the glass is cracked, bring the device in for repair without touching the sharp edges.
What we doWe replace the touch glass or screen and check that all areas of the screen respond accurately.

The car’s built-in navigation shows an old map
WhyIn Audi MMI, BMW iDrive, Mercedes COMAND or Volkswagen Discover systems, the maps are stored on a disc, an SD card or an internal HDD. The update method and price vary by make, model and year.
Check for yourselfWrite down the car’s make, model, year and system name. If you know which map version is currently installed, it helps a lot.
What we doWe determine which map set your system supports and update the disc, SD card or HDD.
08from 40 €
The navigation doesn’t detect the SD card or says „no map”
WhyThe card is damaged, a version for the wrong system was written to it, or the files are corrupted. After an update, the licence or system version requirements sometimes change as well.
Check for yourselfRemove and reinsert the card, and clean the contacts with a dry cloth. Do not format the card, as you will lose the map files.
What we doWe check the card and the reader, write the correct map version and test the system.

The battery of the portable navigation drains quickly
WhyIn older navigation devices the battery naturally wears out over a few years. It can also be drained faster by constant high brightness and heat in the car.
Check for yourselfReduce the screen brightness and do not leave the device in the sun. Do nothing else to the battery.
What we doWe check the battery and the charging circuit, replace the battery cell and test the operation.
