A Mercedes Benz navigation update is needed when the screen no longer shows new roundabouts, bypasses or settlements. We update the maps of Lithuania (in detail) and Europe for older COMAND-APS (NTG1–NTG4), COMAND Online and AUDIO 50 APS systems. For general information about equipment of all brands, see the navigation update page.

The most important thing is to identify the system correctly. We do this based on the car model and year of manufacture, so it is enough to come with your car or with the removed system.

  • How much does the update cost? The price depends on your system. We give the exact price after diagnostics and agree on it before work begins. Initial diagnostics – €10.
  • How long does it take? For a removed NTG2.5 system with an SD card, the work takes about 3–5 business days. In other cases, we give you the timeframe when you arrive.
  • Do I need to book? No. No booking is needed – just visit any elMeistrai service point during opening hours.
  • Is a warranty provided? Yes. Map updates come with a 1-year warranty.

When Mercedes navigation does not work or shows an old map

The most common symptoms Mercedes owners come in with, and what they usually mean.

01

Why Mercedes navigation does not work

WhyMost often the cause is an unreadable disc, a faulty SD card or a system software error. In rarer cases, it is a fault of the reader or the unit itself.

Check for yourselfCheck that the disc is clean and free of scratches, and after switching off the engine, try restarting the system.

What we doWe determine whether the problem is in the disc, the card or the hardware, and accordingly update the maps or repair the software.

02

No new roads and roundabouts

WhyThe map is outdated: roads change, so an old disc may not know about them.

Check for yourselfCompare your street or the new road with the screen view and note what is missing.

What we doWe install the latest maps of Lithuania and Europe for your system version.

03

The system does not detect the navigation disc

WhyThe disc may be worn or of the wrong version, and the reader may be dirty or aging.

Check for yourselfWipe the disc with a soft cloth from the center to the edges. Do not disassemble the system unit.

What we doWe provide a suitable disc or inspect the reader and tell you whether it is worth repairing.

04

Navigation shows the wrong location

WhyThe cause may be outdated maps, a weak GPS signal or an antenna problem. Learn more about the causes in the article why the navigation shows the wrong location.

What we doAfter diagnostics, we update the maps or check the operation of the antenna and GPS module.

05

The NTG2.5 system does not recognize the SD card

WhyThe card may be damaged, or the maps stored on it do not match the system version.

What we doWe update the maps for the removed NTG2.5 system. This work takes about 3–5 business days.

06

COMAND Online asks for an FSC code

WhyIn NTG3.5 and NTG4.5 systems, a new map disc only works with a code that matches your system.

What we doWe prepare the maps together with the FSC code and check that the system recognizes them. This work depends on the system and the availability of the code.

Mercedes Benz navigation update prices

The update price depends on the system version and on whether the maps are on a disc, an SD card, or the unit needs to be removed.

Myths about Mercedes navigation updates

  • Myth. Any Mercedes map disc will fit. In fact. The disc version must match the system (NTG1, NTG2, NTG4, etc.). Even cars of the same model may have different systems.
  • Myth. A phone app replaces an outdated map in the car. In fact. A phone can help while driving, but the map of the built-in system does not change because of it. It must be updated separately.
  • Myth. After updating the maps, the system will start working faster. In fact. An update only changes road data. A slow or freezing system is more often caused by its age and the condition of the hardware.

Mercedes Benz navigation update by system

We update the following systems. We confirm the exact variant based on your model, because the same class had different equipment in different years.

For COMAND Online (NTG3.5 / NTG4.5) systems, the maps are prepared together with the FSC code – the possibilities of this work depend on the system and the availability of the code.

  • COMAND-APS NTG1: CL C215 (2003–2006), S W220 (2003–2005), SL R230 (2004–2008); with software version 1.2 – CLS C219, SLK R171, E W211 and S211
  • COMAND-APS NTG2: A W/C169, B W245, C W203, CLK C209 and A209, G463, GL X164, M W164, R V251, Vito and Viano

  • older COMAND 2.0/2.5 systems (1999–2007 models)

If you don’t know which system you have, just bring your vehicle registration certificate – we will identify it by the model and year.

Navigation map disc and car system

How to tell that your map is already outdated

The first sign is that the navigation leads you where there has long been no road. Another is new residential areas without street names. In addition, changes to speed limits and new intersections are missing.

Roads change, so an old disc may not know about them. You can read more about the process in the article how to update your car’s navigation.

Before you bring it in

  • The car’s registration certificate, or at least the model and year of manufacture
  • Your current navigation disc or SD card, if you have one
  • The removed navigation system, if your version (e.g., NTG2.5) requires removal
  • Navigation PIN code, if the system asks for it
  • A short description of when and how the problem appeared

From arrival to map installation

  1. You come to the service point. No appointment is needed – just come to any elMeistrai service point during working hours.
  2. We identify the system. Based on the model and year, we determine whether it is NTG, COMAND Online or AUDIO 50. The initial diagnostics cost 10 €.
  3. We agree on the price. We tell you what needs to be done, how much it will cost and how long it will take. We start work only with your consent.
  4. We update the maps. We install the latest maps of Lithuania and Europe for your version. For a removed NTG2.5 system, the work takes about 3–5 business days.
  5. You pick it up with a warranty. We check that the system recognizes the new maps and provide a 1-year warranty on the update.

Customers often ask about Mercedes navigation

Does Mercedes navigation work without the internet?

Yes, the maps of older COMAND and AUDIO 50 systems are stored on a disc or SD card, so no internet is needed. It is only required for additional functions, if your system has them.

Can I use Google Maps instead of updating?

It can be used as additional help on your phone, but it does not update the map of the car’s system. If you want the screen to show new roads, the maps need to be updated.

Will the navigation be in Lithuanian?

It depends on the system version. The map of Lithuania is detailed, but the menu and voice language in older systems are not always Lithuanian.

What is the difference between NTG1, NTG2 and NTG4?

These are different COMAND generations with different discs and readers. Discs or cards from another generation are not compatible, so we identify the system based on the car.
