Renault navigation maps and updates

Renault navigation maps on an SD card, CD or DVD become outdated over time because roads change. We update Lithuanian and European maps for the Renault systems we service, with a 1-year warranty.

Renault navigation maps are not all the same: the system, the storage medium and the car’s year of manufacture differ. TomTom Carminat uses an SD card, Carminat Informée uses one or more CDs, CNC (Carminat 3) uses a DVD, and R-Link uses an SD card. That is why we first determine which system you have, and only then do we prepare the right map version.

Here you will find which Renault systems we update, how to identify your version and what to bring. General information about systems of all brands can be found on the navigation update page.

  • How much does an update cost? The initial diagnostics cost 10 €. We will tell you the update price once we have identified the system and agree on it before the work – it depends on the version and the storage medium.
  • Do I need to book an appointment? No. Come to the service point in Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipėda during working hours, Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00. Calling before you arrive is not necessary.
  • What should I bring? The old SD card or disc. If you do not have it, bring a new card that was briefly inserted into the car. We will read it.
  • Do you update all Renaults? Not all of them. We do not update Carminat Guidage Informe SH1 and SH3. You can find the list of other systems below.

When Renault navigation maps are outdated

The most common signs, and the reasons why people search for “renault navigacija update” or “renault navigacijos atnaujinimas”.

01

The navigation doesn’t know about new roads and roundabouts

WhyThe map version is old, and roads in Lithuania are changing constantly, so new sections may be missing from the system.

Check it yourselfCheck when the car was released and which system is installed in it (TomTom, Carminat, R-Link).

What we doWe identify your version and install the latest maps of Lithuania and Europe.

Renault navigation does not turn on without a card

WhyTomTom Carminat maps are stored on an SD card. If the card is missing, damaged or inserted incorrectly, the system does not turn on.

Check it yourselfRemove the card and insert it again with the engine off. Do not try to format the card – you will lose the map files.

What we doWe read the card, or any card that was inserted into the car, and determine the version. 10 € is the initial diagnostics; the update price is separate.

03

I don’t know whether my navigation is Live or not Live

WhyThese systems look almost identical from the outside, while the map sets differ somewhat. The update price depends on the version.

Check it yourselfOn an old TomTom system, press and hold Info and the right joystick button – the screen will show the Navcore version. 9.844 indicates Live, 8.84x – not Live.

What we doWe determine the version by the car’s year or from the card.

Navigation in a Renault Captur, Clio, Kadjar or Talisman – can it be updated?

WhyIt depends on the system, not on the model name. Our list includes R-Link with an SD card for 2014–2016 cars.

Check it yourselfSee whether the centre console has R-Link and whether there is an SD card slot.

What we doWe check your system and tell you whether we can update it. 10 € is for the initial diagnostics only.

0510 €

Carminat Informée does not read the disc

WhyMost often it is a scratched CD or DVD, or a worn-out reader. Sometimes the disc does not match the car’s year.

Check it yourselfInspect the disc for scratches. Do not insert several discs at once.

What we doWe diagnose whether the disc or the reader is at fault, and propose a solution. 10 € is for the initial diagnostics only.

06

The downloaded map file does not work

WhyMaps for the Renault system are tied to the card and the system version. The wrong file can stop the system from starting.

Check for yourselfDo not copy files onto the card used by the car until you know the version.

What we doWe prepare the right map version for your system and check that it works.

We give the exact price once we have identified the system, because it depends on the version and the storage medium.

Myths about Renault navigation maps

  • Myth. You can simply download the maps and copy them onto the card. In fact. Renault system maps are tied to the card and the system version. The wrong file may not work or may stop the system from starting.
  • Myth. Live and non-Live navigation systems look different. In fact. The exterior is the same; the difference is the system inside and the update price. The version can be determined by the Navcore number or the car’s year.
  • Myth. It is enough to put a new card into the car. In fact. An empty card will not turn the navigation on. It needs the right map set and identification.

Which Renault systems we update

TomTom Carminat with an SD card is intended for Renault cars from 2009 to mid-2011. There is a 2 GB version for Eastern Europe and Lithuania and a 4 GB version for all of Europe. Carminat Live (from mid-2011) uses a 4 GB card. We update TomTom R-Link for 2014–2016 cars.

Carminat Informée 1 CD is intended, for example, for the Clio, Laguna, Megane or Espace up to 2006, while Informée 2 CD is for some Espace, Laguna, Megane, Koleos, Master and Trafic models from 2006. CNC (Carminat 3) uses a DVD and is identified by year of manufacture. We do not update Carminat Guidage Informe SH1 and SH3.

  • TomTom Carminat and Live – SD card
  • TomTom R-Link – SD card
  • Carminat Informée 1 and 2 – CD
  • CNC (Carminat 3) – DVD, no SD card

Technician’s tip: if you do not know your system, bring the car’s year and any card – we will identify the version.

Navigation map disc and car system

What to bring and how it works

For the update we need an old card, or a new one that has been briefly inserted into the car. If the navigation does not start, that is normal – what matters to us is the content of the card. We read it and determine the version.

Read more about the process in the article how to update your car navigation.

Before you bring it in

  • Old SD card or CD/DVD disc
  • If there is no card – a new card, briefly inserted into the car
  • Car model and year of manufacture
  • Navcore number, if you can see it on the screen
  • A note on when the navigation started to malfunction

Customers often ask about Renault navigation

Can I download Renault navigation maps myself?

Technically, the files exist, but they must match your system version. That is why it is safer to bring in the card so that we can identify it. General information: how to install new maps.

Do the updated maps cover the whole of Europe?

The 4 GB card options cover most European countries, with detailed coverage of Lithuania. The 2 GB option is intended for Eastern Europe and Lithuania.

Will you update the Renault Talisman navigation?

We only update the systems specified in the source, for example R-Link 2014–2016. Bring in the card or your car details, and we will tell you whether it is suitable.

Why does the navigation show the wrong location?

Most often the cause is an outdated map version, but there may also be signal problems. Read why the navigation shows the wrong location.
