What Alfa Romeo navigation symptoms indicate

Below are the most common cases people seek help with. Prices are indicative.

01from 40 €

Why the navigation does not work

WhyMost often the readable side of the disc is to blame: a scratched or worn CD. Less often – the reader or a software error.

Check it yourselfRemove the disc, check for scratches, and gently wipe it with a soft cloth from the center to the edges.

What we doWe check the disc and the reader and determine whether a new disc is enough or the device needs repair.

02from 60 €

The navigation asks for a disc even though one is inserted

WhyThe reader lens is dusty or the disc does not match the region. Mechanism wear is also possible.

Check yourselfMake sure the correct regional disc is inserted (e.g. CD10 for Lithuania).

What we doWe clean and calibrate the reader, and replace it if necessary.

03from 25 €

Alfa Romeo navigation shows the wrong location

WhyOutdated maps, a weak GPS signal or a faulty antenna. Read more in the article why navigation shows the wrong location.

Check yourselfDrive to an open area without buildings and wait a few minutes.

What we doWe check the GPS antenna, connections and map version.

04

New roads and city sections are missing

WhyThe maps are old – they don’t know about new junctions and bypasses in Lithuania and Europe.

What we doWe offer map discs, for example CD10 with detailed coverage of Lithuania.

05from 50 €

The screen is dim or does not turn on

WhyThe screen may be worn out, or there may be a power circuit fault or a poor contact.

Check yourselfCheck whether the car’s other devices and the fuses are working.

What we doWe diagnose the power supply and the screen, and replace the faulty part.

06from 30 €

The buttons and knob respond poorly

WhyWorn contacts or dirt under the buttons.

What we doWe clean and replace the control elements.

Myths about Alfa Romeo navigation repair

  • Myth. If the navigation doesn’t work, the entire unit needs to be replaced. In fact. The cause may be just the disc, the reader or a connector, so replacing the whole unit is not always necessary. It is worth first determining the actual location of the fault.
  • Myth. A map update fixes any error. In fact. New maps help only when the problem is outdated data. If the GPS antenna or the reader has failed, a repair is needed.
  • Myth. Any disc with the Alfa Romeo logo will work. In fact. The disc must match the system and the region. For Connect G2/DB3 systems, CD10 is intended for Lithuania.

How to tell that your map is outdated

The signs are simple: the car drives „across a field” where a new street or roundabout has appeared, and new roads, addresses or changed traffic layouts are missing.

Discs are divided by region, so you only buy what you need.

  • CD10 – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania (detailed), Belarus, Ukraine
  • CD09 – Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary
  • CD06 – Germany, CD03 – Italy, CD08 – Scandinavia

If you are travelling through several countries, tell us your route and we will choose the right discs. You can find general information in the article how to update your car navigation.

Repair or just update the maps

If the device turns on, the screen shows an image and only the map is outdated, a new disc is enough. This is the lowest-cost option, and map discs come with a 1-year warranty.

If the system reads the disc with an error, stutters or does not connect, diagnostics are needed first. For €10 we find the real cause and only then agree on the price, and you can read about other ways to update in the map update article.
