A Saab navigation update is needed when the car shows a road that no longer exists, while new roundabouts and motorway sections do not appear on the screen. We update Saab 9-3 and 9-5 systems with DVD discs and HDD, and you can find general information about updating navigation for all brands on a separate page.

First we determine which system is installed in your car, and only then do we select the map version. The price is given after diagnostics and agreed before the work.

  • How much does the update cost? The exact price depends on the system and the map set. We tell you after the initial diagnostics (€10) and agree on it before starting work.
  • Which Saab models is it suitable for? Saab 9-3 (2005–2009), 9-5 (2002–2009 with DVD) and 9-5 (2010–2012 with HDD). We check the suitable option according to the system.
  • Do I need to book an appointment? No. Simply come to the service point in Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipėda on weekdays 9:00–18:00.
  • Is a warranty provided? A 1-year warranty applies to map updates. A warranty is provided for the work, and a certificate is issued.

What the symptoms mean: when a Saab map is outdated or the system is faulty

Not every navigation problem means outdated maps. Here are the most common symptoms and what they usually mean.

01from 40 €

Saab navigation shows non-existent roads

WhyThe map version is old, and new sections, roundabouts and motorways are not included. This is the most common reason for an update.

Check it yourselfCheck the map version in the system settings menu and compare it with the latest one.

What we doWe install the latest Lithuanian and European maps in the format suitable for your system.

02from €50

The navigation does not detect the disc and asks you to insert the map DVD

WhyThe disc is scratched or dirty, or the reading lens is worn. This often happens in older systems.

Check it yourselfCheck whether the disc is scratched and insert it with the same side up as indicated on the disc.

What we doWe test the disc, check the reader and, if necessary, clean or replace its parts.

03from 35 €

Saab navigation shows the wrong location

WhySometimes the cause is a weak satellite signal or a damaged antenna rather than the map. Read more about this in the article why the navigation shows the wrong location.

Check it yourselfDrive to an open area without buildings and wait a few minutes while the system finds satellites.

What we doWe check the antenna connection, signal reception and the system software.

04from 45 €

The navigation screen does not turn on or flickers

WhyIt may be a poor contact, a power circuit fault or a fault in the unit itself.

What we doWe diagnose the unit, check the power supply and soldered connections, and repair the board.

05from 60 €

The system freezes while loading the map (Aisin HDD)

WhyIn HDD systems the map data may be corrupted or the hard drive may be old.

What we doWe check the drive and rewrite the map data.

06from 40 €

Lithuania or neighboring countries are not displayed

WhyThe wrong disc has been inserted: Saab European maps are divided across several discs by country groups.

Check it yourselfCheck which countries the disc description lists and whether it is intended for your system.

What we doWe select the right disc version based on the system and the direction of travel.

Myths about updating Saab navigation

  • Myth. It is no longer possible to update the maps of an old Saab. In fact. We check map versions according to the system and the year. The most important thing is that the disc suited to your system is selected.
  • Myth. Any Saab map disc will fit. In fact. Denso and Aisin systems use different discs, so an unsuitable disc will not be read.
  • Myth. If the map shows the wrong position, the antenna is to blame. In fact. More often the cause is an old map. The antenna or signal is checked only if the position is incorrect even on the new map.

Which Saab systems we update

Saab 9-5 (2002–2007) with Denso G00/G01 (KNA 2200) and 9-5 (2004–2009) with Denso DVD systems receive Lithuanian and European map discs. Saab 9-3 (2005–2009) with the Aisin DVD system uses four discs according to country groups.

Saab 9-5 (2010–2012) with the Aisin HDD system has a European map update.

  • Saab 9-5, 2002–2007, Denso G00/G01
  • Saab 9-5, 2004–2009, Denso DVD
  • Saab 9-3, 2005–2009, Aisin DVD

Is it worth updating when the car is old

After the maps are updated, the system uses newer data on roads, roundabouts, bypasses and motorways. We check map versions according to the system and the year.

If the system no longer works because of a hardware fault, we first carry out diagnostics. We described other options in the article how to update your car’s navigation.

Before you bring it in

  • Saab model and year of manufacture
  • The old map disc, if you have one
  • The navigation PIN code, if you know it
  • A note on when the problem appeared
  • The car, if you do not know which system is installed

From arrival to pick-up

  1. Come without an appointment. Visit any service point on weekdays 9:00–18:00.
  2. We identify the system. Based on the model and year, we determine whether it is Denso or Aisin, DVD or HDD.
  3. Diagnostics for 10 €. We check whether an update is really needed or whether the fault lies elsewhere.
  4. We agree on the price. We tell you the price before starting work.
  5. We update and hand it back. We load the maps, test the system and provide a warranty.
