In an ageing car, Honda navigation maps quickly lose their usefulness: new roundabouts, bypasses and motorway sections do not appear on the screen. We update Honda DVD navigation systems – both with voice control (APN2/APN3) and without it (APN2). This is part of the car-specific navigation updates family.

Important to know in advance: not every Honda system can be updated. We do not update systems with an HDD, SD or SSD map storage medium. Below is how to identify your system in a minute.

How much does an update cost? We give the exact price after diagnostics and agree on it before the work. The initial diagnostics cost 10 €. Indicative prices are in the table below.
Which Honda systems do you update? APN2/APN3 DVD disc systems: with and without voice control. We do not update HDD, SD and SSD systems.
Do I need to register? No. Just come to any service point during working hours: Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00. We are closed at weekends.
Do you provide a warranty for the update? Yes, map updates come with a 1-year warranty. The technician will confirm the warranty terms when you collect the car.

What the symptoms show: when Honda navigation needs attention

Honda navigation does not know new roads

WhyAn old map version is stored on the disc. The latest European version for APN2/APN3 systems is v3.8, and for older systems without voice – v2.11.

Honda CR-V navigation update

WhyThe 2007–2013 CR-V with voice control and DVD can be updated, as well as 2002–2006 versions without voice. Newer CR-Vs (from 2012 with SD) cannot be updated.

Check it yourselfWithout dismantling anything, look at whether the screen bezel has an HDD label: if you can see it, the system does not belong to the updatable group.

Honda Accord or Civic navigation shows an old map

WhyAccord with voice control fits 2005/12–2013, without voice – 2003–2005. Civic with voice – 2006–2011, without voice – 2004–2005. You need to confirm whether voice control is present and whether there is an HDD label.

Check it yourselfLook for a button with a speaking person icon on the steering wheel. After pressing it, say „MENU” – if the Honda voice responds, voice control is present.

Honda navigation disc is not displayed or is read incorrectly

WhyMost often a scratched or worn disc, a dirty lens or a faulty reader in the navigation unit.

Check it yourselfInspect the disc for scratches or fingerprints. Do not try to open the unit.

SD card won’t insert into Honda navigation

WhyIf the card won’t insert without opening the screen, it is an SD system, which we do not update. On DVD systems, the card slot, if there is one, is located under the screen.

Check for yourselfWithout opening the screen, try the slot; if the card fits, it is an SD system. Do not force it.

HDD is displayed on the screen

WhyThis is an HDD navigation system (e.g., CR-V 2009–2011). The maps are stored on the hard drive, and we do not update such systems.

Myths about Honda navigation maps

Myth. Any Honda navigation system can be updated with a new disc. In fact. No. Systems with HDD, SD or SSD use a different data storage medium, so a DVD disc does not work in them. We do not update them.
Myth. If I see a microphone symbol on the screen, voice control is available. In fact. Not necessarily. The microphone may be only for the hands-free system. Check the button on the steering wheel and try the command „MENIU”.
Myth. A newer car always has newer maps. In fact. The map version depends on the system and the previous update, not just on the year of manufacture.

Honda navigation maps: which systems are compatible

We update two groups of Honda DVD systems. The first is with voice control (Voice Recognition), maps v3.8: Legend 2006–2010, Accord 2005/12–2013, CR-V 2007–2013, Civic 2006–2011, CR-Z and Insight.

The second is without voice control (v2.11): Accord 2003–2005, CR-V 2002–2006, FR-V, Stream, Jazz 2002–2007 and Civic 2004–2005. We update the Accord 1995–2007 with Blaupunkt TravelPilot DX separately.

How to tell that the map is already outdated

The signs are simple: the car is driving across a field, a new roundabout is not recognised, or a turn that no longer exists is suggested. Most often it is an outdated map, not the GPS signal. For other causes, read the article why the navigation shows the wrong location.

We identify the system. The technician checks whether it is a DVD system with or without voice guidance, and whether there is an HDD, SD or SSD.
Diagnostics 10 €. We assess the map version and the condition of the equipment.
We agree on the price. We tell you the final price and the turnaround time before we start.
Update or repair. We install the latest maps or repair the faulty part.
Collect it with a warranty. Map updates come with a 1-year warranty. The technician will clarify the warranty terms when you collect the vehicle.

Customers often ask about Honda navigation

Honda CR-V navigation update: does it suit all model years?

No. We update DVD systems with voice guidance for 2007–2013 and without voice guidance for 2002–2006. We do not update CR-V models with HDD (2009–2011) or SD (from 2012).

Can I buy a Honda navigation disc?

Maps on discs depend on the system. Before buying, the type must be identified so that the disc fits. Come to the service point and we will check.

Which version is the latest for the Honda Civic or Accord?

For APN2/APN3 systems with voice guidance it is v3.8, without voice guidance v2.11. We choose the specific set according to your car.
