A BMW navigation map update is needed when the system does not recognise new roundabouts, bypasses or changed traffic arrangements. We update detailed Lithuanian and European maps for the following systems: CIC, CIC-MID, Champ2 and NBT Next HU-H with HDD, CCC Professional with DVD, M-ASK I and II, and iDrive I and II with CD or DVD discs.

Compatibility depends on the model and year of manufacture – for example, E60, E90, E91, F10, F11, F30, F25 and some G-series models are included. General information about navigation systems of other brands can be found on the navigation updates page.

  • How much does a BMW map update cost? The price depends on the system (CCC, M-ASK, iDrive, CIC, NBT Next). We tell you the price and agree on it before starting work.
  • Do I need to make an appointment? No. There is no need to call in advance – simply visit any elMeistrai service point during working hours, Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00.
  • What warranty is provided? We provide a 1-year warranty for map updates.
  • How much does diagnostics cost? Initial diagnostics costs 10 €. We agree on the repair or update price before starting work.

How your BMW navigation shows that the map is outdated

Some symptoms are caused only by an old map, but sometimes the disc, the unit or the GPS is at fault. Here is what happens most often.

01

BMW navigation does not know new roads

WhyThe map version is outdated: new roads, roundabouts and traffic arrangement changes are not included. The navigation leads you along a detour or shows you driving where there is no road.

Check it yourselfCheck the map version and date in the menu and write it down.

What we doWe install the latest Lithuanian and European maps for your system.

0210 €

BMW navigation disc is not readable (E60, E91)

WhyMost often the disc is worn or scratched, or the reader lens is dirty. A poorly prepared disc set also happens.

Check it yourselfCheck that the disc is clean and inserted the right way up.

What we doAfter an inspection, we determine whether the problem is in the disc or the unit, and offer a solution.

03

BMW navigation in the boot does not accept the DVD

WhyiDrive II with DVD reads dual-layer discs only from version v31. An older version requires a single-layer disc.

Check it yourselfLook at the label on the unit in the boot to see whether it says CD or DVD.

What we doWe can update the version to V32 or run a single-layer disc.

04

BMW NBT or CIC map update

WhyIn many cars manufactured since 2009 (e.g., F10, F11, F30, F25), the maps are stored on an HDD and are updated differently from disc-based systems.

What we doWe update detailed Lithuanian and European maps for CIC, CIC-MID, Champ2 and NBT Next HU-H systems.

BMW navigation shows the wrong location

WhyBesides an old map, the cause may be the GPS antenna or the unit. Read more in the article why navigation shows the wrong location.

Check it yourselfTry it in an open area, not in an underground car park.

What we doWe run diagnostics and determine whether updating the maps is enough.

Myths about updating BMW navigation

  • Myth. A new map always fixes an incorrect position. In fact. If the GPS receiver, antenna or unit is at fault, a map update will not help. This is determined during diagnostics.
  • Myth. The same map set fits all BMWs. In fact. Maps depend on the system (CCC, M-ASK, iDrive, CIC, NBT Next) and the year of manufacture, so the set is selected for your specific car.
  • Myth. Navigation in the boot can no longer be updated. In fact. For iDrive I and II systems, maps come on CD or DVD discs, and the unit is located in the boot. They can be updated.

Which BMW system your car has

The system depends on the year of manufacture and the equipment package, not only on the body code. For example, 2009 and newer 1, 3, 5, 6 Series cars as well as the X3 F25 and X5 E70/F15 most often have CIC or NBT Next with an HDD, while 2004–2008 models have CCC with a DVD.

Older cars use M-ASK (2003–2010) or iDrive I and II, whose navigation unit is often installed in the boot, and the maps come on CD or DVD discs.

  • CIC, CIC-MID, Champ2 and NBT Next HU-H with HDD – Lithuanian and European maps
  • CCC Professional with DVD – three map discs
  • M-ASK I and II – two or three discs depending on the model year
  • iDrive II (NAVI02/03) and iDrive I (NAVI01) – discs in the boot

If you are not sure about the system, write down the model, body code (e.g., F30) and year of manufacture – these make it easier to match the car to the system.

Which disc is for Lithuania

For older systems, the maps are split across several discs, so you will find the detailed map of Lithuania on only one of them. In the CCC Professional system, Lithuania (detailed) is on the third disc together with Latvia, Estonia, Poland and other eastern countries.

In M-ASK II systems, Lithuania is also on the third disc, in iDrive II on the second, and in iDrive I (NAVI01) on the third disc, “Eastern Europe 1”, together with Latvia and Estonia.

What is worth knowing before updating

If the label on the unit in the boot says DVD, dual-layer discs work from version v31. If necessary, we can update the version to the latest V32 or use a single-layer disc. If DVD is not indicated, the unit reads CDs.

In M-ASK systems, the navigation must display 2D maps. A map update does not fix GPS antenna or screen faults – we determine these during diagnostics.

For a more detailed description of the process, see the article how to update car navigation.

BMW motorcycle navigation

This page describes only car systems. We do not offer BMW motorcycle navigation units (e.g., those mounted on the handlebars), so we do not promise to update them.

What to prepare before you come

  • Model and body code (e.g., F30, E60)
  • Year of manufacture
  • Map version from the navigation menu, if you can find it
  • Whether there is a navigation unit in the boot and whether it has a CD or DVD label
  • Travel routes that require maps (Lithuania or all of Europe)

How a BMW map update works

  1. Determine the model and year. Write down your BMW series code (e.g., F10, E91) and year of manufacture. They show which system is likely.
  2. Come to the service point. No appointment is needed – come to any service point Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00.
  3. We agree on the work and price. We tell you the update price and agree on it before starting work.
  4. We update the maps. We load Lithuanian and European maps for your system and provide a 1-year warranty.
