Below are the faults most often brought to the service, described the way people usually put them. The approximate prices are taken from the price table below; we give the exact amount after diagnostics.
01from 35 €
The camera does not turn on
WhyMost often the cause is a discharged or worn-out battery, oxidised contacts or a damaged charging socket. Less often, it is a faulty power circuit after a drop or moisture exposure.
Check it yourselfTry another charged battery, wipe the visible contacts with a dry cloth and check that the battery is inserted all the way. There is no need to heat or take the battery apart.
What we doWe check the battery compartment, contacts and power circuit, replace damaged sockets or contacts and, if necessary, repair the board.
02from €50
The camera does not focus, photos are blurry
WhyThe lens may be dirty or dusty, the autofocus motor may be faulty, the focus may be misaligned, or an unsuitable mode may be switched on. After an impact, the lens elements often shift out of position.
Check it yourselfWipe the front lens with a microfibre cloth, switch from manual to autofocus, turn off macro mode and try a different lens. More in the article camera does not focus.
What we doWe check the focusing mechanism and the lens motor, clean and calibrate the optics, and replace faulty parts.
03from 25 €
Spots and dots in all photos
WhyIf a spot appears in the same place in every photo, it is almost always caused by dust or a drop of lubricant on the image sensor. If the spot moves when you change the lens, the problem is in the lens.
Check it yourselfFirst, use a blower (not canned compressed air from a shop) to blow the dust off the rear element of the lens. Do not wipe the sensor yourself – read about the risks in the article how to clean a camera sensor.
What we doWe clean the sensor with specialized tools and inspect it for scratches. If there is irreversible damage, we recommend replacing the sensor.
04from 60 €
Shutter sticks, camera shoots slowly
WhyThe mechanical shutter wears out, and shutter blades that are stuck together or dusty get jammed. In SLR cameras, the mirror mechanism sometimes slows down.
Check it yourselfCheck that the camera is not set to long exposure times and that the memory card is fast enough. Do not open the shutter.
What we doWe clean and adjust the shutter and mirror mechanism, replace worn parts and check the exposure accuracy.
05from 40 €
Screen or viewfinder not working
WhyThe screen cracks after an impact, and the viewfinder can deteriorate due to internal dust or a cable defect. The image often disappears when the flat ribbon cable comes loose.
Check it yourselfPress the screen/viewfinder switch button and check the brightness settings. If the screen is broken, handle the camera with care.
What we doWe replace the screen, viewfinder or ribbon cable and check that the image is displayed without stripes or spots.
06from 35 €
Battery drains quickly or does not charge
WhyA worn battery loses capacity, while a non-original charger or dirty contacts prevent charging. In rare cases, an electronics fault „eats” the energy.
Check it yourselfTry another battery, another cable and another socket. Do not use a swollen battery – it must be removed immediately and not charged.
What we doWe measure the charging current, check the socket and contacts, and replace the battery or charging components.
07from 70 €
Camera after water or moisture exposure
WhyWater causes corrosion on the board, which may not appear immediately but only after a few days. Salty sea water is the most damaging.
Check it yourselfSwitch it off immediately, remove the battery and card, and do not try to turn it on. Do not use a hair dryer and do not place it on a radiator.
What we doWe disassemble the camera, clean the board and contacts of corrosion, dry it, check the power circuits and replace damaged components.
08from 35 €
Shows a memory card error
WhyThe cause may be a damaged card, the lock switch, the card reader contacts in the camera, or a card formatted on a computer.
Check it yourselfTry another card, check the lock switch on the side and format the card in the camera. Copy your photos before formatting.
What we doWe check the card slot and contacts and replace the slot if it is damaged.
09from 50 €
Lens does not extend or shows an error
WhyIn compact cameras, the lens is often blocked by sand or dust, and the guides can bend after a fall. With interchangeable lenses, the contact connection may be at fault.
Check it yourselfTurn the camera off and on, and wipe the lens contacts with a dry cloth. Do not pull the lens by force.
What we doWe disassemble the lens mechanism, clean it, replace bent or broken parts, and check the focusing and zoom.
10
Camera not working on a phone
WhyA software error, full memory, a camera module damaged after a fall, or moisture. For Samsung and other phones, it is usually worth starting with a restart and an update.
Check it yourselfRestart the phone, free up memory, check the app permissions and update the system.
What we doWe repair phone cameras, screens and other faults separately – read more on the phone repair page.
